I am not sure how many of you raw foodies have a dehydrator yet but if you don’t, you have to get one. I have been making do with my oven and shop bought dried food for a couple of years, never taking the time to purchase a decent machine to help me, how I wish I had done this 2 years ago!
What Kit Did I Buy For My Homemade Dried Food You Ask???
I love gadgets but for some reason I never got around to buying one of these. They are great but I do wish I had got one with a timer on. I got one of the 9 tray Excalibur models but I should have got a timer version, they are only about an extra £20, not sure why I didn’t. I’ll make do with the timer on the cooker…the thing does not get used much so might as well use some of its features.
After reading rubbish reviews about the round dehydraters having uneven drying I had to get something live this. My thought was if I was going to so it then do it properly.
When doing my research I did find some posts about there being an issue with the fuse but I only found one or two so I took the chance. Glad I did as everything is okay. I hope I do not get any issues as I found several bad reviews about the customer service. Anyway thankfully I have not had to use them as everything is great.
I love being able to easy do my own stuff at home. No matter where I buy products from or what promises they have I always have this niggle in the back of my head, what other chemical might they have added to aid the manufacturing process. We all know they do not have to mention loads of them on the packaging.
The Best Dried Food So Far
I have tried a few different things since it has become so easy to do and one of the best things for me is the chillies. I love spice but normally when I buy a big bag of chillies I never get through them all in time. Being able to dry them out has been a great aid in not throwing out food.
I loved dried kiwi fruit and I have tried that, worked a treat. I was reading some tea recipes the other day using dried fruit and herbs, I might give that ago soon and see how it goes. This article is my inspiration for making homemade tea.
